Kids Into Music (KIM)

Kids Into Music, administered jointly by the Music Teachers' Association of California, San Diego Branch and the Helen B. Goodlin Foundation, is a scholarship program that makes music lessons available to talented students through the age of 18 in San Diego County who otherwise could not afford them.

This program will provide financial support for private lessons in any instrument or voice to talented music students who reside in San Diego County, ages 4 – 18. The applicant will be selected by the Goodlin-KIM Committee of the Music Teachers’ Association of California, San Diego County Branch. The selection criteria include but are not limited to: the student’s musical ability and talent, financial need, and academic standing in school.

The parent/guardian must agree to schedule regular lessons with the teacher and arrange transportation to the scheduled lessons. The KIM scholarship recipient must request an annual renewal of funds, approval for which will be based upon the student’s progress and the availability of funds.
